New York Nido’s Best Of

New York Nido’s Best Of

We love New York, we go there as much as possible to get its energy. Please find our modest suggestions and preferred places : we definitely like to stay Downtown and recommend to have a walk in SoHo, Nolita, Noho, West village, Chelsea Meat packing District and the Highline, an old elevated railroad that was transformed into a long walking park. And of course we recommend to have a walk on Brooklyn Bridge and go up the Empire State to get a understanding of Manhattan.

Hotel selection :

Our favorite : The Maritime (http://www.themaritimehotel.com) with its 60’s Riviera style. Have a drink at the very cosy bar and then diner at the fantastic Matsuri japanese restaurant.

Second favorites : The Crosby for its great location in SoHo and the great public spaces (http://www.firmdalehotels.com/new-york/crosby-street-hotel) but also The Ace hotel (https://www.acehotel.com/newyork), more uptown close to the Empire State with its unique atmosphere

The Standard Hotel, a bit less fun but great location over the Highline on the Hudson River. Their restaurant, the Standard grill is great too and has good burgers

Restaurants/bars :

Super pancakes : in the Lower East side have a pancake at Clinton Str Baking Company, between Clinton et Houston, go there early, there’s always a line

Super mexican sandwich restaurant in Nolita : Habana at corner of Prince and Elizabeth, it’s an institution. Have the grilled corn, it’s unique.

If you are looking for a typical diner : Empire Diner on 210 10th Avenue is still like in the 30’s

Cebicheria La Mar (http://www.lamarcebicheria.com) on Madison & 25th, if you like raw fish, it is super sophisticated but simple and delicious

Lafayette restaurant and bakery: 380 Lafayette street à NoHo

Our favorite design store: The future perfect, 55 Great Jones street, right by Lafayette restaurant in NoHo
